Terms & Conditions

Welcome to Switch on Health

Studying complementary medicine can be a life-changing and rewarding journey.  Our passionate and experienced staff are here to help you realise your dreams.  Let’s make sure you know what to expect of us.  Any questions – please ask.

Advanced Diploma Qualifications and Subjects

Our goal is to produce well trained, confident, and competent health professionals.  Our Courses assume no prior knowledge or pre-requisites in this field.  You will require reasonable literacy and numeracy skills, and you are welcome to chat with us for guidance about this if needed.  We are here to help.

You will require:
  • Internet enabled device to access course content.  Laptop or desktop is recommended.
  • Adequate internet connection (e.g. to watch videos, participate in interactive Zoom sessions).
  • Access to and ability to use basic software (e.g. download and save a Word document, write your answers in it, attach to an email and send to us, etc).
  • AV equipment for practical assessments.  You will be required to demonstrate practical skills such as case-taking and taking someone’s blood pressure.  Depending on the assessment task, this may be recorded in your own time and submitted as a video file, or conducted live via Zoom or similar.

Your enrolment includes access to Switch on Health Course Content and tutor support.  It does not include
textbooks or other equipment such as a stethoscope.  Textbook and equipment requirements may change as our curriculum undergoes continual review and improvement.  Please ask us for a current textbook list if needed.

Completion of an Advanced Diploma program requires you to complete a certain number of ‘
Clinic hours’.  These are undertaken with one or more supervising practitioners approved by Switch on Health, and should be completed concurrently with your third year Subjects.  Any costs associated with completion of these hours is not included in your Course fees.  We build and maintain a network of affiliated practitioners around the country and help in facilitating your Clinic hours experience.  We cannot guarantee that we can source a supervisor when and where you want one.   When you enrol into an Advanced Diploma program with Switch on Health, you accept that completion of Clinic hours is your responsibility.

Switch on Health will take steps to ensure that your Clinic hours have been completed to required standards prior to graduation.  This may include:
  • Auditing your Clinic Logbooks
  • Requesting copies of case notes
  • Verifying details with your supervisor/s

Our auditing of your Clinic hours activities are
free of charge should you complete your Clinic hours training within 12 months of your scheduled Course expiry date.  Any Clinic hours activities submitted after this time may incur a fee from us to complete the audit activity.  You may be required to undertake further Clinic hours training if we believe that you have not met the standard/s required by our accrediting association/s.  We reserve the right to charge an audit fee in any instance where more than one audit is required due to submitted Clinic evidence not meeting required standards.  Any fee charged for auditing of Clinic hours will not be refunded, regardless of the outcome of the audit.

In line with the standard set by our accrediting association/s, you are required to hold a current
First Aid certificate before and during your Clinic hours experience, and as a condition of graduation.  This must be sourced from another provider at your own expense.

Your enrolment fees include two attempts at each
assessment.  Should you require additional attempts, we reserve the right to remove your access to that Subject and for you to re-enrol, or to charge a fee for further submissions.

Tutor support is included in your course fees.  This is most commonly provided via email, but may also include chat forums, phone calls, Zoom sessions, etc.  Tutor support is provided on the basis that you have made a reasonable attempt at studying the subject matter and require further assistance.  It is subject to reasonable use, and we reserve the right to charge an additional fee for requests for support should your need be considered excessive.

We provide a recommended sequence in which the Subjects are studied, and some Subjects are considered a pre-requisite to others.  We will not provide support for subject matter if you have not completed pre-requisite Subjects, and we reserve the right not to mark assessments if pre-requisite Subjects have not been completed.

The Advanced Diploma programs offered by Switch on Health are not ‘nationally recognised’ qualifications under the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF). They do not lead to issuance of AQF documentation such as a Statement of Attainment. They are however recognised by the Australian Traditional-Medicine Society (ATMS) who are the largest professional association representing natural therapies in Australia. In addition, the Advanced Diploma of Homoeopathic Practice is accredited with the Australian Register of Homoeopaths (ARoH).

Switch on Health is not a Registered Training Organisation (RTO). To read more about how this improves the quality of our qualifications, and produces better outcomes for you as a student and practitioner, please click here.

Enrolment Expiry

We want to see you progress, complete, and graduate in your studies.  We understand that sometimes circumstances can hinder your progress, and we may extend your expiry date at our discretion.

Your
expiry date is the maximum time allowed to complete your studies in the particular Subject or Year in which you have enrolled.  This includes any time needed to resubmit assessments if necessary.  We reserve the right to remove your access to any Subjects should you not complete (pass) them within the specified timeframe.  The maximum timeframe in which to complete is as follows:

  • 6 months for enrolment into a Single Subject.
  • 12 – 18 months (depending on the payment option selected) for enrolment into any Advanced Diploma Year (Year 1, Year 2, or Year 3).
  • Lifetime access for Short Courses.  (These are general interest courses that do not form part of an Advanced Diploma program).

The maximum time allowed to complete an Advanced Diploma program is
10 years from initial enrolment.  Should this time elapse before you graduate, we reserve the right to require you to re-enrol in previous Subjects and/or complete updated assessments at our discretion to ensure your currency of knowledge and skills for graduation as a health professional.

You retain
lifetime access to any Subjects that you complete (pass) with us.  This includes access when the content is reviewed and updated.  Lifetime access is defined as being as long as the Subject content is still available on our learning platform.

Course Deferral

A course deferral is a request to put studies ‘on hold’ for a certain amount of time. It only applies to enrolments in an Advanced Diploma Year; not Single Subjects.

We accommodate deferrals for a period of up to 12 months. During this time, your access to Courses in the Learning Platform will be suspended. A Reinstatement Fee to cover our admin costs will be applied when you wish to re-commence your studies.

In the event that you do not contact us to resume your studies within your 12 month deferral period, we will treat your enrolment as having expired.

Should you wish to defer for longer than 12 months, we will treat this as a Withdrawal from your studies and you are welcome to re-enrol at a later date.

Withdrawal and Refund Policy

A partial refund may be available for Advanced Diploma programs or Subjects should you wish to withdraw (no longer wish to continue your studies with us).  It will be proportionate to the time elapsed since enrolment, so please let us know as soon as possible if you wish to withdraw.  Upon withdrawal, your access will be removed for any Subjects you have not completed.

For up-front payment refunds:

  • Within 5 days: full refund minus a Refund Administration Fee
  • Within 3 months: 50% refund
  • Within 6 months: 25% refund
  • After 6 months: no refund applies

For payment plan refunds:

  • Within 5 days: full refund minus a Refund Administration Fee
  • After 5 days: no refund applies.  Your payment plan will be cancelled and no further debits will be made.  Please ensure you have advised us of your intent to withdraw at least 3 working days before your next payment is due.  We reserve the right to cancel course access and/or withhold Certificates of Completion should your payments to date not be sufficient to cover the payment plan price of the Subjects you have accessed.  You will retain lifetime access to any Subjects that have been completed and fully paid for.

Please note that no refund will be paid in the following circumstances:

  • Where you have accessed Course Content for that particular Subject
  • For any purchase of a ‘Short Course’
  • If you are in breach of our Code of Conduct
